Destinations to visit in Kashmir

Overview

Kashmir is recognized not just for a few well-known tourism destinations such as Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Yusmarg, and Sonmarg, but also for areas that were unknown to visitors and the rest of the world until a few decades ago.

The genuine beauty is found in the magical little hamlets of Kashmir, where travelers may breathe a degree of rejuvenating warmth since they are unaffected by the negative impacts of population growth and pollution.

About Kashmir

Because of everything that it has to offer, Kashmir is also known as “Paradise on Earth.”

Call it lovely glades and woodlands residence. Sights of vast mists rising from rivers curving in thin spirals around opposing mountains; lovely glades and forests; trees of chinar, pineapple, and cedar are somber; soft air ruffling the water causing pleasant motion among the trees from which it wafted the most delightful of water sounds, adding an air of serenity to the scene.

Tourists’ eyes are soothed as clouds rise above the mountains. It is one of the most attractive places for travelers to spend their vacations in nature.

Srinagar

  • The Jhelum River divides Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). The lovely Dal Lake is the main draw here, and it has been named a TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice for 2020. For a romantic evening, choose a day shikhara or a midnight sail.
  • Here you can also find Asia’s largest tulip garden and India’s first floating market. Hotels in Kashmir cater to all sorts of guests, so plan your stay appropriately.

Gulmarg

  • Gulmarg is a lovely spot in Kashmir that is a must-see for adventurers. This is the country’s crown jewel, with the world’s second-highest gondola ride to Apharwat Peak (14,403 feet) and the third-highest ski area.
  • Skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and other activities will make your holiday more exciting. Every year, the Indian Army and Ministry of Tourism arrange a three-day winter festival here for a culturally rich experience.

The Aru Valley

  • The Aru Valley’s beautiful magnificence is similar to a Windows background image. On a pony ride or foot, you may enjoy the valley’s breathtaking vistas. Driving to this Kashmiri treasure is an adventure in and of itself. Book a relaxing vacation in the area and try traditional meals at wayside eateries.
  • The Aru Valley provides unrivaled views of the Kashmir Valley, so if nature and tranquillity are what you want, you know where to go. You won’t be able to appreciate the panoramic views here, so don’t pass up this opportunity!

Valley of Betaab

  • The Betaab Valley, located just 5 kilometers from Pahalgam, is another popular tourist destination in Kashmir. At a roadside café, take in the landscape while sipping tea, coffee, or Kashmiri Kahwa. It is a frequent halt along Chandanwari Road.
  • With previous hits like Kashmir ki kali in 1964 and more recent films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015), Bollywood has an evident affinity for the Petap Valley. This is the place to go if you want to experience an extraordinary combination of nature and serenity.

Chandanwari

  • Chandanwari is a well-known access point to Amarnath, one of Hinduism’s four assailants. It is precisely midway between Srinagar and Amarnath. It is called after an unusual occurrence because it has a sacred sandalwood tree (meaning “Chandan”), which is unlikely to survive at such high altitudes and terrain.
  • A visit to Chandanwari Glacier Point will provide you with unrivaled views of Pahalgam. Don’t miss out on the adrenaline-pumping sleigh ride across a snowy bridge while enjoying this visual treat. Because it is still covered in snow all year, renting a couple of bots from a nearby local store is advised.

Patnitop

  • Patnitop is a picturesque hill station and the ideal summer gateway among Kashmir’s sites to visit. The hill station is well-known for its extensive gardens and orchids. The magnificent panorama of the hill station is a visual delight.
  • Every year, a large number of tourists visit these gardens. There are also several restaurants and cafés around where you may have some delicious meals. The location is great for adventure seekers.
  • So, if you enjoy exploring new areas and trying new things, Patnitop is the place for you.

Sonmarg

  • Sonmarg, which means “golden meadow,” has a large bloom of golden crocuses in the spring. Sonmarg, or Sonamarg, is a renowned high-altitude tourist attraction in the northeastern area of Srinagar. There are the famous “three sisters,” a cluster of rivers (the Lidder, Sind, and the Neelum).
  • It is also a popular starting point for hikes to the Thajiwas Glacier. The gushing waves of the Indus River will make your heart race, yet its peculiar beauty will leave you dumbfounded.
  • Sonmarg is one of Kashmir’s stunning attractions that you would want to visit again and again.
